  1. The Seekers - "I'll Never Find Another You"

The Seekers are a classic 60's Australian folk quartet. The jewel of the band lies in the lead vocals of Judith Durham. Durham's voice is rich, yet composed and there is a wonderful sense of clarity in every note or word she sings. Of course there are also the warm harmonies that nestle Durham's sweet vocal; the men are definitely no slouches in this department. These elements combine to make what I feel as 'indelible vocal(s)'.

Those who admire the piece should also check out "A World Of Our Own" and "Isa Lei" (Fijian farewell song).

  2. George Michael - Killer / Papa Was A Rolling Stone

Everyone knows who George is so I don't have to explain that part. This was during the period where he chose not to exploit his image, so he isn't actually in the video, just his voice. I love both of the original versions of these two songs but this compilation is extraordinary.

This recording comes from a live show at Wembley that I saw. George sang everything with such conviction and hit every not dead fucking center. I just closed my eyes and drifted to the lyrics, which, if you are familiar with them, are quite powerful. The opening bar to Papa particularly resonates with me, "It was the third of September. That day I'll always remember, yes I will. 'Cause that was the day, that my daddy died". While my daddy didn't die that day, my granddaddy did and he was a strong influence on my youth.

George sang everything so powerfully and so accurately that it was almost perfection. You could hear in his voice that he truly felt words.

    Thanks Tim

  3. Nutmegs - Down to Earth
At the beginning, I wanted to submit something really different. This band was well-known in 60s and they had sung acappella.
Special mention for my submission is that every vocal is really different and add some strength to each other's. Great discovery. And really powerful singing, if you listen to all their songs.

  4. Sooner or Later- Madonna
Although it's not technically great, I find the passion that Madonna puts in so appealing, and although she lacks power, her dynamic ability to create emotion with her voice is so sexy and really unmatched these past three decades. So yeah, points for having a sexy but not technically great voice
